School: Stafford (Va) Brooke Point
Recruiting: Miami started recruiting Figueroa when he was a senior in high school back in 2011. He didn't qualify and decided to enroll at Fork Union. An injury prevented him from actually going and playing there in 2012. He got his grades in order, landed an offer from Miami, and committed following a December visit.
Scouting Report: At 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Figueroa is an athletic linebacker prospect from the state of Virginia. He graduated from Brooke Point High in 2012. He played mostly wide receiver in high school, and signed with Shepherd College (W.V.) back in March. – Mike Bakas
2012 season: Figueroa was set to enroll at Fork Union but never went because of an injury. Therefore, he didn't play football in 2012. Instead, he spent the semester working out and preparing for college.
Mike's Take: Figueroa has ideal size (6-2/215) and athleticism (he was mostly a wide receiver as a senior in high school). He's very good in space, so he should be able to be a three-down linebacker for Miami. He adds much needed size, the ability to stay on the field all three downs, and getting him enrolled early was a big plus since he took 2012 off. He'll be able to get adjusted to the speed and physicality of the college game before being asked to compete for a spot in the fall. He certainly will have a chance.
