Signing Day Profile: RB Gus Edwards

It's official. RB Gus Edwards has signed with the Miami Hurricanes. Read on to learn more about him.

Player: RB Augustus Edwards

School: Staten Island (NY) Tottenville

Recruiting: Edwards was offered by Miami back in May, even when they had Alex Collins committed. Edwards later committed to Syracuse but backed off that decision after they went through a coaching change. He visited Florida State and Miami in recent weeks.

Scouting Report: A big back who likes to go between the tackles, Edwards breaks a lot of tackles and does a nice job finishing his runs. He's a physical, inside runner who generates a lot of yards after contact. – Mike Bakas

2012 season: Edwards finished his senior season with over 1,200 yards – giving him more than 2,500 yards over his final two seasons in high school.

Mike's Take: Miami missed out on Alex Collins, and that was a huge loss. However, they offered Edwards way back in the spring so he's definitely a kid they wanted regardless of what was happening with Collins. Edwards seems to lack the ability to make things happen on the perimeter but seems like a solid inside runner.
