Golden on the class: Defense

Read on to see what head coach Al Golden is saying about Miami's recruiting class on the defensive side of the football.

Defensive End: "On defense, we wanted two defensive ends. Alquadin Muhammad, we think he's one of the premier pass rushers in the whole country. He's long, animated, rangy, and plays with passion. The other young man I'm excited about is Ufomba Kamalu. He's 6-5, 275 pounds, and is also a defensive end prospect. We needed more maturity and I'm glad we got him."

Defensive Tackle: "There's no question today that we lost our defensive tackle (Keith Bryant) and that's something we have to address moving forward."

Linebacker: "We wanted three linebackers. We missed one sought after kid locally (Matthew Thomas) but we got Jermaine Grace. He was one of the two premier linebackers in the state. I think he's a tremendous talent. Devante Bond is a sam linebacker, someone I'm really excited about. Alex Figueroa also enrolled at mid year."

Defensive Back: "We wanted three defensive backs. We felt like we got two proven guys in Artie Burns and Jamal Carter. We also got a guy in ray Ray who can play corner, safety, slot, or running back."
