The commitment: DE Ebenezer Ogundeko, Jefferson HS [Brooklyn]
Date committed: Jan. 4, 2013
Ranked: Three-star, No. 35 OLB
Other options: Syracuse, Florida
Position status: Given his size and skill set, Ogundeko is best suited to play on the weak-side [right defensive end] for Clemson. Already ahead of him on the depth chart is returning starter Corey Crawford and last year's team leader in sacks, Victor Beasley.
The evaluation: Ogundeko is a raw talent that is often overlooked because of the competition he faced in New York City, but the athleticism and natural tools to be an effective pass rusher are there. He has an excellent first step off of the line and prides himself on his strength soon after. He's ideal for coming off the edge with power or speed, and he has developed some counter moves over the last year to increase his value as a pure pass-rusher. - John Garcia, Jr. Scout.com Recruiting Analyst
Estimated impact: 2014. Ogundeko entered school with the strength to play at the college level, but he's still got some room to grow, both physically and as a player. He'll need at least a redshirt year to adjust to the level of competition he'll face when spring practice opens next month. After he's given some time to develop, Ogundeko could evolved into a serious pass rushing threat off the edge.
Commitment capsule: Ogundeko
