The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Blanding will tell the world where he is going to college today at 2:30 p.m. at his high school.
The Bayside star narrowed his list to ten schools back in November – Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Virginia, and West Virginia.
What school will he choose?
Now, I believe only four schools remain in contention for Blanding – North Carolina, Ohio State, Virginia, and Florida State has an outside shot.
Blanding has only visited North Carolina and Virginia, so most would assume his decision will come down to those two schools.
Then there is the pipeline of recent players Bayside has sent to Virginia. In fact, Mike London has landed Bayside player in all four of his previous recruiting classes.
Another thing to consider, is the 2014 class in Virginia is the strongest in recent memory. So with Blanding deciding early, it could change the entire recruiting landscape for the upcoming year. I expect him to become valuable recruiter for the school he chooses, which could lead to several big-time prospects following him.
All we can do now is wait.
Like many, I believe he will stay home and play for Virginia. But in the crazy world of college football recruiting…you never know.
What I do know, is that Blanding will make an immediate impact regardless of where he chooses to go to college.
Quin is the total package. He is an elite talent, a leader, and a great kid. Blanding is a program-changer, and players with his ability are few and far between.
While we wait, remember one thing.
No matter what school he verbally commits to today, National Signing is over a 11 months away and a lot can happen between now and then.
