First offer in for Quinerly

Nhyre Quinerly has been a starting cornerback at Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor since the beginning of his high school career. Last season as a sophomore, Quinerly helped lead the Titans to a state championship.

"I've been getting mail from Penn State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina and UMass," said Nhyre Quinerly. "UMass has offered me and I think UVA could be the next school to offer."

Quinerly will be making his first visits of the year in the near future.

"I haven't gone anywhere yet, but I'm visiting N.C. State on the April 6," he said. "I'll probably go up to (Virginia) Tech and UVA, too."

The Lake Taylor defensive back also has some trips planned this summer.

"Me, Jalyn Holmes and Nyquan Harris are going to North Carolina this summer," said the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Quinerly. "We will probably go up there before we go to Clemson's team camp."

As for the fall, Quinerly plans to go see games at North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

The 2015 cornerback knows a lot will be asked of him this fall.

"I'm not coming off the field this year," he said. "I know I've got to step up, so we can win another state championship," he said.

Last year, Quinerly had 56 tackles, 24 pass breakups and four interceptions.
