* Speaking of QB's, keep an eye on Booker T Washington's Treon Harris. At 6-feet, he led BTW to a state championship last season and was one of the state's most productive quarterbacks in 2012. However, because of his size and style of play, he will likely have to play QB in the spread offense at the college level. It would have to be in the right system, as his father told Scout today. Harris is Ice's son, and the brother of former UM players Brandon and Tim Harris (track). He says the Canes have offered him, and that would mean they're likely recruiting him as an athlete who could end up playing either wide receiver or defensive back at the college level. There's a good chance he'll end up playing elsewhere as a college QB because he's one heck of a player there and seems to have a strong desire to stay there in college.
* The Hurricanes just made a new offer to LB KeShaun Freeman. At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, he's a three-star LB prospect from Callaway HS in Georgia. He was a 2nd team all-state linebacker selection last season so the production was there. He is a good-sized kid who has the ability to play both inside and outside. Miami was offer No. 11. His previous ones came from schools like West Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Duke. He's a good student and his true interest in Miami won't likely be known until he gets a chance to visit the school at some point.
* Tim Irvin is a very good player from Westminster Christian in Miami. He's a rising junior and will be among the area's top prospects in the 2015 class. He took a visit to Miami today, and has a lot of early interest in the Canes so he's someone to keep a close eye on. Irvin, 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, ran for just over 1,000 yards, had 358 yards receiving, and had over 70 tackles on defense. He's a very productive two-way player at the small school level. He's related to Michael Irvin.
