Golden recaps 2nd scrimmage

Read on to see what head coach Al Golden was saying following the team's second scrimmage last night in Naples.

On the scrimmage:
It was good. We came out of it healthy, which was good. Our tempo was better, not a lot of penalties. I thought we were crisp. We did some good things on both sides of the ball. We kicked it well. 60 plays with the ones and 50 or so with the two's.

Compared to the first one:
Much better. Good tempo. Guys were in better condition. Not as many mental errors. We'll look at on film Monday and go from there.

On being physical:
It was physical. We came out of it safe. There was energy. Guys did a great job and I want to thank Naples High, Coach Kramer, and their support.

On the backup QB:
That's a battle. Gray led a nice drive from the backup position, and then Ryan answered. We'll evaluate them more thorough. There's a good competition brewing.

On the running game:
We gave the ball to Mo Hagens more. He's answering. He's physical, and showing some niftiness. Danny ran hard, especially by the goal line. He has to be a big back and wear people down. Dallas is probably having the best spring of anyone on offense.

On Rashawn Scott:
Very consistent. The last 8 or 9 minutes on Thursday he had some drops, which were uncharacteristic. The last 4 practices were like tonight. He did a great job.

On the shaky weather in Naples:
I'm sure the storms chased some people away. We're really grateful for all the fans who came out and supported us. I'm sure the kids are too. There's a major highway from here to Sun Life. There's a lot of people on this side who are Miami fans, or University of Miami alums. We really appreciate them.

On the 2nd year guys on defense:
Clearly Deon Bush, Rayshawn Jenkins, Tracy Howard, Nate Dortch, Antonio Crawford, they're more familiar and playing with more confidence. Kirby, Tyriq McCord. We played too many young guys on defense last season and the second time through will really pay big dividends for them.
