UCLA-USC battle for Dixon?

Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure tight end Bryce Dixon landed a big local offer on Friday and it has made an impact on his leader board.

Bryce Dixon is currently the No. 3 rated tight end in the West and is rated the No. 201 player in the nation in the Scout 300. He's probably the most athletic of all the tight ends out West and has the speed to make plays down the field and the hands to be a dependable third down receiver as well.

Dixon is well past the double digit offer mark and holds scholarships from national programs like Florida, Miami, Ohio State and Texas A&M, plus most of the Pac 12. Many have felt UCLA was the team to beat for Dixon but things look up in the air at the top of his board now.

"USC offered me today," Dixon said. "That's a definitely a big one for me. USC has been recruiting me on and off but to get the offer means a lot. I had a good talk with Coach Kiffin and he told me they like me and were ready to offer.

"I'm not ready to say USC is my leader or anything but they definitely stand out. This offer moves them up my list pretty significantly, I can say that. USC is a big time school with a lot going for it so I'm going to give them a very serious look. UCLA is still very high on my list as well, I like both of these schools a lot. ASU was a great visit and I like them too. I'm not ready to narrow my list down yet though, I want to play out the process."

As for summer camp or visit plans, Dixon said he doesn't have any scheduled right now.

"I'm pretty sure I'll be going to the NIKE Camp in Oakland but that's all I have set up right now," Dixon said. "I've been to Arizona State and Miami before but I think I'm just going to stay with my high school team and wait to do my official visits in the fall. Things can change but that's where I'm at right now."
