Crawford Adds Two Big Offers

Shaun Crawford is one of the top prospects in Ohio for the class of 2015, and the Lakewood St. Edward cornerback is putting together a great offer list. He received two Big Ten offers on Tuesday.

Lakewood St. Edward is annually one of Ohio's top talent producing high schools, and the Eagles are loaded once again, especially in the class of 2015.

Cornerback Shaun Crawford (5-foot-9, 170-pounds) is not only one of the fastest players in the state in the sophomore class, but one of the top football prospects as well. His recruitment has taken off, and he added two Big Ten offers Tuesday.

"I was offered by Michigan and Iowa today," Crawford stated. "The Michigan offer was a dream come true and means an awful lot to me. My head coach told me to call Coach (Greg) Mattison today, and it was good to hear him tell me I had the offer. They are going to have a smaller class for 2015, so it made me feel good to know they want me to be a part of it. I've been there twice and loved it both times. It was a relief hearing I had the Michigan offer."

"It's too soon for me to consider accepting any offer right now, because I want to visit the schools that offered before Michigan," he continued. "Once I get out and see places like Florida State, Miami, Arkansas, and a few others, I will be able to compare all the schools. Once I see all these schools it will be easier. I will either make my commitment before my junior season, or just after my junior season ends. It will definitely be before my senior year. I don't have a real favorite list, but Michigan would be at or near the top if I did have one. I'm not sure when I will visit Michigan again, because I want to see the other schools this summer."

The offer from Iowa was meaningful, especially with high school teammate Solomon Warfield enrolling this summer as a true freshman for the Hawkeyes.

"They were at the school today and they let my head coach know they were offering me a scholarship," Crawford said. "It's a school I'm definitely interested in and plan on visiting. Just hearing what Solomon says about Iowa and how much he loves it, means a lot to me. He said the coaches are great and the atmosphere is fantastic, and I want to see how it compares to what he's said."

Several other schools have offered Crawford, while others are close, so he is attempting to visit as many schools as possible this summer.

"I don't have the dates set yet, but I know I want to visit Florida State, Miami of Florida, Arkansas, Penn State, Michigan State and Iowa," he explained. "The schools showing interest that haven't offered yet would be Ohio State, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Maryland. Everyone is recruiting me as a cornerback."
