Anderson holds 10

O.P. Walker (New Orleans) 2014 offensive lineman Alex Anderson has ten offers in his pocket with more certain to come soon...

Alex Anderson says two of his offers are currently standing out.

"I'm liking Arkansas and Southern Miss the most," Anderson said. "Recruiting has really taken off ever since the season ended. I've been getting some big offers from big schools.

"Miami, Oregon State, Houston and Tulane have offered; Marshall threw me one. Kentucky has offered. Texas Tech offered not long ago. Coach (Jabbar) Juluke at Louisiana Tech did, too."

The 6-5, 280-pounder expounded on his thoughts about Arkansas and Southern Miss.

"Arkansas, they're going to run a lot with their new coaching staff," he explained. "My coach at O.P. Walker said I'd be a good player for them because I'm a big guy, and that it would be a good fit for me. I plan on visiting this summer.

"I went to junior day at Southern Miss and like their family environment. Coach John, he's a really good coach. I have a relationship with him."

Anderson began his varsity career with the Bonnabel Bruins in Kenner before joining the Chargers in Algiers (located on the West Bank of New Orleans).

"I play both ways now but will go to college as a left offensive tackle," he said. "Last season went really well, even though I had to sit out the first five games after transferring from Bonnabel."

The junior thrives when facing elite competition.

"On the first play of my highlight play," he said, "you can see me drive (five-star DE) Gerald Willis 15 yards down the field and pancake him.

"Two or three weeks ago at the Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp, I took down one of the best pass rushers in (five-star DE) Lorenzo Carter. I won two head-to-head matchups and he won two."

Anderson plans to camp at Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida State, Miami and Oklahoma State.

He'd like to add offers from Alabama, Florida and Florida State.
