Canes offer in-state DE

This defensive end prospect is starting to collect some 4-star level scholarship offers and Miami gave him one today. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect.

Justus Reed says the Hurricanes offered him on Monday.

6-3/230 DE prospect from Clearwater Central Catholic

Last spring he ran a 4.88/40 (215 pounds) and jumped 32.4 on the vert. He had a solid junior season at Clearwater High. He finished the year with 22 tackles for loss.

He's a classic edge guy, whose speed is the name of his game. He's another in the long line of prospects the Canes are recruiting who could be OLB kids in a 3-4 defense.

His father, John, played at North Carolina and Justus named them along with Ohio State co-favorites earlier this month when he really started collecting some major offers.

With offers from schools like Florida State, Ohio State, North Carolina, and now Miami, Reed is starting to get recruited like a 4-star prospect. He's emerged as one of the state's most heavily recruited defensive end prospects.

Earlier this spring he expressed an interest in getting down to Miami at some point this summer to check out the school. That's when we'll really get a better idea about his interest in the program.
