* Another offer that went out this week was to Tampa Catholic's T.J. Harrell. A two-way player at RB and OLB, Harrell is sort of a tweener. Pretty much everyone is recruiting him on defense. At 6-feet and 200 pounds, he's a bit undersized to play linebacker at the major college level. And since he's played there in high school and lacks top notch speed and athleticism for a major college safety prospect, the transition to playing there in college may be tough. One thing's for sure though -- he's a football player. And a very good one. He has skills and seems to have good instincts, and is someone who is always around the football. He wants to stay in Florida and all the Florida schools are interested. A lot will depend on some upcoming visits but he's someone to keep an eye on moving ahead.
* Lamont Gaillard is a top notch defensive tackle prospect who was offered by Miami earlier this spring. At 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, he's one of the top prospects in the state of North Carolina. He told Scout today that Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia are his top three which further proves that he seems to have no problem leaving his home state for college. He also mentioned Miami as a possible visit destination so the Canes seem to be somewhere in his top five. They have an uphill battle against his current top three but a successful visit here could change that. Harold Landry, a BC commitment, is a teammate of his who also has an offer and the two have expressed a desire to play together in college. While package deals rarely work out in the end, Gaillard (and Landry) is someone to keep a close eye on at such a need position for the Canes.
* Speaking of defensive tackles, one to keep a close eye on is Travonte Valentine. At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, the Bayside High standout was offered by Miami very early in the process. He was one of the first defensive linemen the Hurricanes offered in the 2014 class. He committed to Florida not long after his offer from Miami last season but has since backed off that commitment. He told Scout today that his top four schools right now are Miami, Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisville. It's worth noting here that he's been to Miami on three different occasions so far this year. Living three hours away, Valentine has shown with those three visits that he has serious interest in Miami. Don't be surprised if the Canes are really in his top two. Florida is still hanging around too but if distance ends up playing a big factor with his family then Miami could even go up even higher in his eyes. Either way, he's an elite level DT prospect who is extremely interested in Miami right now.
