Canes offer Virginia DB

This defensive back prospect has over a dozen offers, including one from Miami. He was a talented two-way player as a junior. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect.

M.J. Stewart told Scout today that Miami is one of his newest offers.

5-11/190 safety prospect from Yorktown HS in Arlington, VA

Stewart finished his junior season with 1,842 yards rushing, 323 receiving and 32 total touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he had 52 tackles, 10 interceptions (returned one for a touchdown) and returned three punts for scores. Most schools are recruiting him to play on defense.

He took in summer camps at Maryland and Virginia last year and was offered by both schools. Wake Forest also offered and then North Carolina added its name to the mix during his junior season. He didn't mention any favorites at the time.

He's already visited North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Maryland so far this spring. He's been to two Junior Day events at UNC already so they seem to have built the best relationship with him.

Even after his offer from Miami came, his father said the only summer visits they have in mind are West Virginia and maybe Michigan and Stanford. The Canes don't seem to be on his schedule anytime soon, which makes one believe Miami is probably a longshot.

With offers from all the schools he's visited already this spring, Stewart is being recruited like a solid three-star prospect.
