JCFootball.com Recruiting Blog - 5/17

As we continue to look at some of the top JUCO prospects in the country, there are some new updates on offers and interest from schools. Here's a look at what has been happening with several established and emerging players...

Hutchinson CB Shattle Fenteng - It's been a busy spring for Fenteng as he's hauled in offers from Georgia State, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas Tech and West Virginia. This week Georgia and Tennessee both dropped by Hutchinson and told Fenteng he is close to offers. As a freshman for the Blue Dragons in 2012, Fenteng posted 57 tackles, 16 passes defensed and four interceptions.

College of the Siskiyous OT Brendan Slaight - At 6'7" and weighing 330 pounds, Slaight is, quite literally, one of the biggest JUCO line prospects in the country. This past week, Slaight received an offer from Idaho and has had schools like San Diego State, Fresno State, Cincinnati, Texas State, Texas Tech, Kansas and San Jose State stop by to see him. He can play on either side, but he's probably a better fit at right tackle at the next level.

Scottsdale DT Calvin Heurtelou - Heurtelou just started popping up on recruiting radars and recently updated us that he has received offers from Cincinnati, Kansas State, Miami, Missouri and Texas State. Expect more and more schools start to flock toward him due to his outstanding size and athleticism. As a freshman last season, Heurtelou posted 14 tackles, four tackles-for-loss and two sacks from his defensive tackle spot.

Pasadena RB Marciss Grigsby - Grigsby received his first offer yesterday when Prairie View A&M came by and offered. As a freshman last season, Grigsby rushed for 435 yards and three touchdowns. Pasadena has had several schools drop by and show some interest in Grigsby and he could see things start to pick up in the coming weeks and months.

L.A. Pierce QB Nick Arbuckle - Arbuckle is one of the top returning JUCO passers in the nation this year after throwing for 3,774 yards with 40 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while completing 67% of his passes (250 of 373), leading the Brahmas to a 9-2 record. Schools from all over, including Bowling Green, Ohio State, South Florida, Utah and Wyoming, have dropped by in the past few weeks and could be extending offers in the near future.

Coffeyville TE Jon Denton - As a freshman in 2012, Denton hauled in five receptions for 91 yards for the Red Ravens. He has recently started to hear from a handful of schools including Illinois, North Carolina State and Iowa State.

Mount San Jacinto DL Roosevelt Pearson - Pearson is a great looking JUCO defensive line prospect who has offers from Texas State, San Diego State and New Mexico State. He recently got a visit from UTSA as well, but the Roadrunners haven't offered yet.

Mississippi Gulf Coast LB Cavellis Luckett - Luckett received a verbal offer from Mississippi, but was told that they want to see his progress this summer in the classroom before they make things official. As a freshman last season, Luckett racked up 68 tackles, two sacks and nine tackles-for-loss from his outside linebacker spot. This year he's moving inside and is expected to be one of the top tacklers in the country this fall.

Georgia Military LB JaKevin Jackson - Jackson totaled 27 tackles, one sack, one tackle-for-loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception as a freshman. He's going to be a May of 2014 grad and he's already gotten offers from Cincinnati and West Virginia and more schools are close including the likes of Texas Tech, San Diego State, South Florida and North Carolina State.

Garden City RB Tyreek Hill - Hill carried the ball 66 times for 389 yards and two scores as a freshman in 2012. He's waiting on offers, but is getting interest from schools in the ACC, the SEC and the Big 12.
