Canes offer in-state DE prospect

The Hurricanes have offered a handful of defensive end prospects in the state of Florida for the 2014 class. You can add one more to the list, as he tells us the Hurricanes offered him on Monday. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect.

DE Rohan Blackwood told me the Hurricanes offered him on Monday night.

6-foot-5, 215 pounds from Nature Coast Tech HS near Tampa

He put his name on the recruiting map as a junior last season when he finished with 69 tackles and 15 sacks. He's also a very good basketball player and averaged over 15 points and 11 boards for a team that went to the 2nd round of the state playoffs. ESPN lists him among the nation's top 100 basketball prospects.

Blackwood now has 13 offers. His BCS offers are Miami, USF, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, West Virginia, and Minnesota so he's being recruited like a 3-star prospect. Florida State is also recruiting him but haven't offered yet.

He's taken spring visits to USF and UCF and didn't have a favorite team growing up so this thing seems wide open. Miami's offer will likely have a big impact on his decision-making process in the very near future.
