Canes offer USC commit

The Hurricanes continue actively recruiting the state of California, and today they offered another player from there. Read on to learn more about this prospect, who recently committed to USC.

Austin Maloata says he was offered by the Hurricanes today.

6-3/250 DE prospect from Centennial HS in Corona, CA

He actually played his junior season at a high school in Samoa. He moved to the states earlier this spring, and started getting recruited immediately.

Ole Miss was his first BCS offer but then USC offered him earlier this month. One day later he committed to the Trojans, telling Scout that he grew up following the Trojans and has always been impressed by all the Samoan players who have gone through their program.

The Miami offer probably doesn't mean much to him. With kids like this, you have to beat the dream school to the punch. If Miami had offered long before USC and established a good relationship with him, they could probably make it interesting. However, the offer came after USC and after his commitment which is going to make it very difficult for Miami to have much of a chance.
