Eagles Offer South Florida Lineman

Southern Miss has once again dipped into Florida looking for prospects. This time, they have offered a prospect from the Miami area. Here what he has to say about Southern Miss and his offer in this interview with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Southern Miss has offered highly touted and very talented offensive lineman A'lique Terry out of Hialeah HS in South Florida.

The athletic big man is off to a great start for his final season after a busy spring.

"We finished off a scrimmage game last week, and now I'm getting back to the grind and gearing up for some camps this summer," he said.

As he prepares for camps, the Golden Eagles threw their hat into the ring for his services by offering him yesterday.

"It came from Coach Arroyo," he explained.

"I had not hit him up before, but he sent me a message and said he liked my talent. He didn't get a chance to go see me but he said they know enough to make me an offer.

"He wants me to come over for an unofficial visit and check it out. I plan on going over there in late June, at least that is my plan right now.

"I am a fan of college football so I know about their program. That offer seemed to come out of the blue, and I really appreciated it. They have a good program, and a winning tradition.

"My grandmother is from Mississippi so I have a connection there as well."

The Eagles are in the mix with several other schools. Right now he holds offers from 14 different schools, including Southern Miss.

"Cincinatti is coming after me hard right now, and so is South Florida," he said. "Also ULL and pretty much everyone who has offered me is still pursuing me.

"I am open to go anywhere to find the right fit. I'll go to Alaska if I have to."

Terry, who is 6'3, also has an interesting background. Basketball is his first love, and he plays a position that many offensive lineman probably don't find themselves, point guard.

"I'm a guy who has a lot of mobility and athletic ability who blocks at the next level, and that is because of my basketball ability," he said.

"I spend a lot of time on the basketball court. I play anywhere from point guard to shooting guard. Basketball helps because it makes me quicker and keeps me in shape. It helps a lot on the football field."

Terry is looking for a place where he can get a good education, contribute early, and a school where he can find a family enviornment.

We'll keep tracking A'lique and others as they go through the much anticipated summer recruiting season. Keep it locked on GoldenEaglePride.com.
