At 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, he's a Juco defensive tackle prospect from ASA.
Johnson, originally from Pennsylvania, originally committed to Temple coming out of high school. At the time of his commitment, Al Golden was the head coach, Mark D'Onofrio was the DC, and Jethro Franklin was the D-Line coach. Grades forced him to attend Junior College.
After a redshirt season, Johnson finished last season with 23 tackles and one sack in seven games. He's set to play his sophomore season this fall, which means he'd have two years to play two for whichever Division 1 school he signs with.
In addition to Temple, Syracuse, North Carolina State, and Arizona State made early offers to him this spring. Then Miami jumped into the mix.
He's never been here before but the built in connection, obviously, will be his previous relationship with Golden and his staff. That could go a very long way here, especially if the Canes really push hard for his commitment. He is on track to graduate in December.
Johnson is just another in the long line of defensive linemen the Hurricanes are currently recruiting from the Juco ranks.
