Canes offer Alabama DL

This standout defensive line prospect is now in double digits in terms of scholarship offers. Miami was the school that put him there. Read on to learn about him as a prospect.

Cory Thomas says the Hurricanes offered him yesterday.

6-foot-6, 265 pound defensive line prospect from McAdory HS in Alabama.

Thomas, who was a first team all-state pick as a defensive end last season. has only been playing football for a few years now. He grew up a basketball player. He finished last season with 88 tackles, 14 for loss, and eight sacks.

He camped at Auburn and Alabama last summer and even went to the Tigers Junior Day in early March. He left without an offer. At the time he said his top three choices were Auburn, Bama, and Mississippi State. A few days after the Auburn Junior Day, MSU and Memphis became his first two scholarship offers.

Thomas was offered by Clemson in early April, but named Mississippi State his top choice at the time. In fact, he's been to MSU twice already this year and says he nearly committed to them at their spring game.

Schools like Florida and Kentucky offered in May. Miami just offered yesterday. It will be hard to tell what Miami's chances will be with him until he takes a visit here at some point. One main reason why he favors MSU is because of his relationship with the coaches and since he's been there a few times for visits already.
