* T.J. Harrell is a talented safety prospect from Tampa Catholic High. He claims the Hurricanes offered him last month but I'm not convinced the Canes are recruiting him real hard right now. He gave Scout a list of his top schools yesterday, and Miami wasn't one of them. That leads me to believe the Canes are likely recruiting others harder at the safety position. Look for Harrell to end up elsewhere.
* Glen Ihenacho is one of the top safety prospects in the state of California this year. At 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, he has the size and speed (4.48 at a recent Nike camp) of a cornerback but projects as a safety in college. Miami offered him back in the spring, and now he tells Scout that Miami will definitely get an official visit from him. A big reason for that is likely because he can see the schools close to him on his own, unofficially, so the official visit to Miami makes sense. I'm not sure how high he is on Miami's board, but he's somewhere on there. Not coming down for camp this summer could hurt his chances some of being heavily recruited by Miami in the fall, but he's someone to watch for now.
* Isaiah Wynn is one of the top interior offensive line prospects in the state this year. At 6-foot-3 and 275 pounds, the St. Pete Lakewood standout named Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Auburn as his top five choices yesterday. It's interesting that Miami's the only in-state school, since he has offers from the others and grew up a USF fan. His coach said Vanderbilt led last week and he plans to visit UGA real soon. He's never been to Miami, and has expressed a lot of interest in leaving the state for college so it'll be interesting to see how much things change when he does visit here. Corey Martinez seems to be the most wanted and most likely of the remaining OL targets but Wynn's definitely on the list, too.
* Cory Johnson is a Juco DT prospect from PA. He signed with Temple out of high school, back when Al Golden and his staff recruited him there. At 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Johnson is visiting Penn State this weekend and says Kentucky is recruiting him the hardest. He's one of several Juco prospects being recruited by Miami along the defensive front but their interest in him doesn't seem to be as strong as a few other Juco DL prospects right now. It will be interesting to see if Penn State offers him on the visit there this weekend. If so, things could get tougher for everyone else, including Miami, especially considering where he's from.
