Canes offer another Juco DL

The Hurricanes have been actively recruiting the Junior College ranks for defensive linemen this year, and you can add another player to that list. Read on to learn more about him as a prospect.

Abu Lamin says the Hurricanes offered at the end of last week.

6-5/315 DT prospect from Fort Scott JC in Kansas

Originally from North Carolina, played both ways at Trinity Christian HS as a senior in 2011. He finished that year with 46 tackles, six for loss, five sacks, and one interception.

Lamin redshirted last season so he has limited experience for a Juco kid. He is on track to graduate in December with three years to play three.

"I think I can play the three technique or nose guard on the next level and be successful at either one," Lamin told Scout when asked to describe his game. "I think I am a strong player that has great feet. I am already quick for my size, but that is one thing I am going to keep working on this summer."

Arkansas was his first BCS offer last month. By the end of the month he had offers from Texas Tech, Arizona State, Tennessee, Nebraska, South Carolina, Florida, and more.

He named Arkansas, Auburn, Arizona State, South Carolina, and Tennessee as his top five in late May, indicating a strong desire to play football in the SEC. He spent the last few days at Florida for a visit, and is set to take his second official visit to South Carolina this coming weekend. Miami offered him late last week, and is trying to get a visit lined up.

He seems really focused on playing in the SEC, so getting him on campus for a visit will be the first big step for the Hurricanes. This offer shows that the UM coaches continue searching the Juco ranks for defensive linemen.
