Kentavius Street traveled out to Oregon to compete at The Opening to not only represent himself, but to represent the state of North Carolina.
He might be representing that same state on the next level.
The four-star defensive lineman still favors a school close to home.
"North Carolina State is still in the lead," Street said with confidence. "I can go there without any problems, I communicate with the coaches well, and N.C. State has become like a second home for me. The fact that I can get there easily has really helped me get to know them."
He may be able to get up to Raleigh with no problems, but he has not been able to get down to Tallahassee so far this summer like he had hoped.
The trip to FSU is likely going to have to wait.
"Florida State is my No. 2 and I may not be able to get there this summer like I thought I would. I thought I would get there in July, but I probably will not be able to get down there until I take an official visit. I have always liked FSU, I have watched them a lot on T.V., and I still have good communication with them."
The communication is important for Street because when he does make his decision, the relationship he has with coaches will help with that.
After the Wolfpack and Seminoles, four other schools have Street's attention.
"Miami, Clemson, LSU, and Ole Miss are the main schools I have been talking to other than State and FSU. I just need to keep talking to the different coaches, build my relationships with them, and figure out where I will be taking my official visits. Right now, I only know two (Florida State and N.C. State), so we will see what happens with the others."
There looks to be no chance of a decision coming before those important official visits.
"I will definitely take official visits before I commit," said the No. 7 defensive end on Scout. "My decision will be based on where I feel most comfortable. I am going to take as much time as I can to see where that is. I think I will be one that makes my decision around Signing Day."
