McDermott Named to Remington Watch List

University of Miami junior center Shane McDermott was named to the Reminington Award Watch List today.

Hurricane center Shane McDermott has been placed on the Remington Award Watch List, the school announced today.

At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, McDermott started all 12 games for the Hurricanes in 2012. He is one of 44 players across the country on the list for an award that is annually given to the top center in college football.

An All-ACC honorable mention selection in 2012, McDermott helped lead a Hurricane offensive line that had the fifth best total offense in the ACC. He played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman in 2011 before becoming a full-time starter in 2012.

A former Palm Beach Central standout, whose brother (Kc) is a five-star recruit already committed to the Hurricanes for the 2014 class, will look to become the second Hurricane to win the award. Brett Romberg won it following the 2002 season, in which the Hurricanes played Ohio State for the national championship.

The winner of the award will be announced on January 11th.
