DL has Miami offer, excited to visit

Cory Thomas visited the Alabama camp back in June, but is still anxious to come to Florida to check out the Hurricanes. Read on to see what this four-star is saying about the Canes and the recruiting process.

Alabama has kept a close eye on Cory Thomas -- a four-star defensive lineman from the state of Alabama -- since his sophomore year.

"I really enjoyed the camp. It was my second year visiting the school. Alabama is somewhere you would want to be," said Thomas.

The McAdory defensive lineman left with an offer from head coach Nick Saban.

Thomas said Saban told him he'd gotten faster and significantly bigger since he camped at Alabama a year earlier, as a 6-4, 250-pound rising junior.

He has also visited Tennessee, Mississippi State, Auburn and Kentucky. He also plans to visit the Florida schools and expects to take some officials before committing. He landed an offer from the Hurricanes back in the spring.

"I talked to coach Brennan Carroll last week on Facebook," said Thomas. "He's a nice guy, he kept telling me how beautiful the city of Miami is. I can't wait to go out there and go see it for myself," said Thomas.

When asked what he thinks his role would be at Miami he had this to say.

"Miami is changing their defense up. As the defensive end at my high school we run the same defense structure that they are trying to run at Miami," said Thomas.

Thomas, who wants to pursue a degree in Sports Medicine just received his ACT results. Miami's on his short list.

"My favorites are Florida, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Clemson and Mississippi State."

The last time he was in Florida was for the AAU basketball tournament in Orlando when he was merely a seventh grader.

"I really enjoyed that trip, I got to see a lot of places. " said Thomas.
