* Braxton Berrios told Scout earlier this week that he's added Miami and Ohio State -- because of their recent offers to him -- to his final group of schools. That list already included Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia. At 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, Berrios is a 3-star slot receiver prospect from the state of North Carolina. It's worth noting here that none of his finalists are from inside his home state, which is a clear indication that he wants to leave the state for college. Miami offered him following a strong camp performance here back in June. He says he grew up a Canes fan, and has already been here on his own dime. Those are two reasons to believe the Canes are very much in the running. The key will be to see how hard the Canes continue recruiting him this season in a year when they're heavily involved with several South Florida WR prospects.
* Damien Mama is an elite OL prospect from the state of California, who listed Miami as one of 16 finalists a couple weeks ago. At 6-foot-4 and 375 pounds, Mama gave an interview to Scout today and made no mention of the Hurricanes. That's to be expected, as Mama has not been here and was offered by UM later than most other schools. No matter how you slice it, Mama to UM is a major longshot.
* Kentavius Street told Scout yesterday that Miami is among his top three right now. At 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Street is a 4-star defensive end prospect from the state of North Carolina. NC State has been recruiting him for a few years now, he's been there a few times, and they are clearly considered the team to beat. Street says the Canes and Florida State have come on very strong lately, and that he plans on setting an official visit to UM in the very near future. The Canes have three defensive ends committed right now, and he joins Rohan Blackwood as another offered player who lists the Canes in his top three heading into the season.
