Interview: Kwakou Robinson

Last year, the University of Miami landed one of the nation's elite prospects from Brooklyn, NY. They're back in Brooklyn this year trying to get another.

Meet Kwakou (pronounced Kway Ku) Robinson of Poly Prep High School.

Robinson had a very busy summer, as he went to camps at Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Maryland, and Boston College.

He checked in all of them at 6-foot-4 without shoes on and was 310 on the average. Amazingly, Robinson ran a 5.00 at Notre Dame's camp and his worst time was a 5.20 at Maryland. That is incredibly quick for a kid this size. Robinson displayed even more athletic ability by registering a 32-inch vertical jump at three of those five camps. Simply put, he's one of the most athletic big men around.

As a junior last season, Robinson had 50 tackles, nine sacks, and two caused fumbles.

Your current core GPA: We don't go by numbers. It's a B-minus right now.

Your current test score: I will take it in October, I wanted to study a lot for it first.

Which schools have sent you scholarship offers in the mail: Wow. Lots of them. Ohio State, Michigan State, both USC's, Boston College, Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Miami, Penn State, and Tennessee.

If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: I will take four visits this season - Ohio State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Miami.

What's Miami talking about: I have spoken to Randy Shannon a couple times. He's a real nice guy. They have been trying to get me to visit there, and I told them they will be one of my four visits. I will probably visit there with a teammate of mine (I. Perfection Harris, who I will interview real soon).

Straight-up, does Ohio State lead: No, I won't name a leader until after my visits.

Robinson, who just turned 18, is being recruited by everyone as a defensive tackle. I never realized Robinson had this type of athletic ability. His size and athletic ability combination as a lineman reminds me a lot of Carlos Joseph. Hopefully the two of them will line up against one another some day - as teammates.
