The Next McKinnie

Talk about size! The Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove offensive tackle checked in at the NIKE Camp in Georgia this past April at 6-foot-8 and 312 pounds. So it's legit. McNeil also did a very impressive 27-inch vertical jump, showing off excellent athletic ability for the big man.

Your current core GPA: 3.2

Your current test score: 970

Which schools called you on the phone in May: Miami, Georgia Tech, Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Ohio State, North Carolina, North Carolina State....

Which schools have sent you a scholarship offer in the mail: Georgia Tech's the only one so far, but a lot of other schools have talked about it.

If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: Georgia Tech and Miami are my two favorites.

What are your visit plans: Tech is right down the street, so I won't need to visit them. I will definitely visit Miami, and also probably Florida and North Carolina.

What's Miami talking about: They just called and told me they're interested in me.

McNeil is an interesting prospect that must have been playing well his sophomore season because Marcus told me he missed his junior season to a back injury. And since there isn't spring football in Georgia, the last time he really played was during his sophomore campaign. I think his combination of size, athletic ability, and grades have a lot of schools interested, but they definitely want to see what type of senior season he has before offering. There's no telling, Georgia Tech might end up being his only offer or he could end up getting offers from all those who called him. But for now, he's clearly a kid that UM and offensive line coach Art Kehoe will be watching as the season progresses.
