After watching the tape for 10 minutes, I immediately hurried to try finding his phone number. The looks awesome.
So I went back to my notebook and found his questionnaire. I called him up and began talking about his summer. He went to the LSU Nike Camp and measured at 6-0 and 197, while running a super 40-time of 4.37 on grass. We're talking about a big back with superb explosiveness.
Your current core GPA: 2.62
Your current test score: I got an 18 the first try.
Which schools called in May: I got a bunch of them, mostly everyone in the South and some Big 10 schools.
Which schools have offered scholarships: LSU, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, and Kentucky have sent one in writing. Some others have talked about it on the phone. Notre Dame told me I could start as a true freshman.
If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like? Well, I want to take five visits before I mention any favorites. All the magazines and websites say I'm leaning to LSU, but that just isn't true. They're one the schools I want to visit along with Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Miami.
What's Miami talking about: They called me in May, I think it was Coach Johnson. They basically talk about how they'd like to have me in for a visit and they're probably one of the schools I will visit.
I was surprised, but then I wasn't when he mentioned Miami. Surprised because I had no idea he had so much interest in UM. Not surprised because he's such a good looking running back that I figured the nation's top programs would be actively recruiting him.
While it'll be tough to get him away from LSU, he's definitely interested in seeing other schools, such as Miami. Interestingly, his four other possible visits he mentioned have already offered. If we do that in the fall, his interest level in UM should go way up. Couple that with an official visit, and it goes up even more. We'll have to wait and see what happens from here, but he's clearly a big time back that has a lot of interest.
