4-star WR set to announce Monday night

A four-star wide receiver prospect from south Florida is set to announce his college commitment Monday night. Will he pick Miami?

Ermon Lane is being recruited like one of the state's premier overall prospects. At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Lane has dominated the South Florida high school scene over the last few seasons at Homestead High.

After putting his name on the recruiting map as a sophomore in 2011, Lane became a national recruit last year when he caught 30 passes for 801 yards and eight touchdowns.

Throw in a 4.5/40 and a 36-inch vertical jump and you can see why Lane has a lot of the physical tools college coaches seek in a wide receiver prospect.

Lane, recruited like a 5-star player, has been on Miami's radar for a couple years now. While Lane's remained fairly quiet throughout the recruiting process, he's shown the most interest in three schools in recent months -- Florida, Miami, and Alabama.

The standout wide receiver prospect is set to announce his college commitment Monday night at 9 pm on WQAM 560. Lane is expected to announce for the Gators.

Even if he picks Florida tomorrow night, it won't be over. Don't be surprised if Miami, and several others, continue recruiting him throughout the season. Lane will likely take at least a few other recruiting visits later in the year.

The Canes already have wide receiver commitments from Trayon Gray and Darrell Langham. A third player, four-star Derrick Griffin, signed as part of the 2013 class but was forced to attend prep school due to his academic situation. He plans to return here in January, although that is far from a sure thing.
