Interview: Chris Davis

Davis is a kid that I didn't see last year, on tape, or in person this spring. Therefore, I don't know a whole lot about him.

What I do know is a good friend saw him at the University of South Florida summer camp last week and told me he will never get a chance to play quarterback inside this state. At 5-foot-10 1/2 and 170 pounds, he's better suited to play wide receiver, where he's never played before.

With that said, I dont think Davis is an impact type kid until three or four years down the road at a big time program, which he claims offers from. If he signs with a Mid level Div 1 program, I think the adjustment will be easier and he'll fit in much better.

Your current core GPA: About a 2.5

Your current test score: I am waiting for the next one. I think it's in January (note: Davis has not yet passed either section of the HSCT).

Which schools have offered you scholarships in writing: About 50 to 55 of them. Florida State, Miami, Florida, Boston, USF, Georgia, West Virginia, Notre Dame, a lot of them.

Which position is everyone recruiting you at: Some say quarterback, but most of them say athlete.

Which Miami coach is recruiting you: I don't know his name.

Did they call or stop by in May: I think they stopped by, but I don't remember them calling me.

If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: I am wide open, so I couldn't tell you.

Personally, I dont believe Davis has anywhere close to 50 to 55 offers. I mean, lets face it, guys like Ryan Moore and Devin Aromashodu have anywhere from 15-20 offers right now and they are two of the elite receiver prospects in the entire country. And Davis, despite never playing the position, has 55? I doubt that.

In addition, he didn't even remember if Miami called or stopped by in May, so that further explains why I feel Miami hasn't offered him yet.

Finally, he has a mountain to climb inside the classroom, and I won't be a bit surprised if he ends up at South Florida as a partial qualifier. We'll see.
