Huskers will get official visit

Nebraska is looking for a couple of high school defensive tackles in the 2014 class. One of the best recent offers from the Nebraska staff was extended to this defensive lineman from Clinton (Miss.).

Fall camp has started and Grant Harris from Clinton (Miss.) might have been dreading the heat, but it was worth it getting back on the field. Harris says that there are some high hopes about his team this year because of the high number of returning players.

"We started practices last Monday," Harris said. "It was hot! I think that it's going to be a good season though. It was a great feeling getting back out there and putting the pads on.

"I think that we have a great chance to be a great team this year and possibly go all the way this year. We were 7-5 last year and lost in the second round. We have a lot of players returning from last year."

There are some thoughts that Harris will be playing on both sides of the ball this fall. His time on the offensive side of the ball though might be limited to some particular places on the football field and in specific formations.

"I don't know yet if I will play any offense. They are trying me out at tight end. I will probably just play tight end in goal line. On defense I play head up on the tackle. Sometimes we just slant and other times we play two-gap."

There were definitely some areas that Harris wanted to improve on to be better for this fall. He says that he feels good about what he accomplished in the off-season and thinks that could pay off in his pass rushing.

"I think that I have gotten better since last year. I wanted to improve my pass rush. I worked out a lot this past year doing different drills. I have also been working on taking better angles."

There were some schools that Harris was able to get out and see this summer. As of right now he says that he won't visit any of the schools close to him officially and that there are only two schools that he knows he will officially visit for sure.

"I went to Louisiana Tech, Memphis, a camp at Alabama and I went to Southern Miss recently. I know that I won't officially visit the schools close to me. I know that I am going to officially visit Miami and Nebraska."

The Huskers just stepped up with an offer for Harris. He has been impressed with Nebraska's approach towards him and he's excited about taking a visit to Nebraska to see what they are about and how things operate.

"Nebraska just recently offered me. I think that it would be a great experience to visit there and I like how they have been recruiting me so far.

"Coach Rick Kaczenski is the coach recruiting me. I want to see how they do things up there, how things operate and I also want to find out more about the academics."

There will be some opportunities during the season for Harris to make official visits, but he expects that some official visits will spill over to after the season as well.

"I will probably take some visits during the season and some after the season is over with. I will try and take one on my open date and then maybe take the rest after the season."
