Interview: Marc Guillon

First of all, let me clear something that's been of debate lately, Marc's official height and weight. He went to the USC one-day camp on Tuesday and was 6-foot-3 & 3/4 and 186 pounds.

Here's a kid who reminds a lot of people in the Orinde, Calif. area of Ken Dorsey. Guillon will enter his third season as the starter this season and will likely break all of his former teammate's school records.

As a junior last season, Guillon threw for 2,210 yards and 28 touchdowns. And much like Dorsey, Guillon is a very accurate passer. He completed 59 percent of his passes.

Your current GPA: I have a 3.0 core

Your current test score: 970 SAT

Who called in May: I got a lot of calls. Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami, USC, UCLA, and some more of them.

Who has offered scholarships to this point: Miami, Wake Forest, and Nevada-Reno

Why do you think more schools haven't offered: It's a really strong year for quarterbacks, especially here in California. A lot of those coaches want to see how we do our senior seasons before making the decision on which ones they want to recruit hard.

Talk about your relationship with Ken Dorsey: We are still pretty good friends and we talk from time to time.

Talk about Coach Wener: He was one of the coaches that stopped by the school. He was real cool and calm. I like his personality, it's just like mine.

I don't care which other schools have offered Guillon, he's a big time kid that was offered by Miami in early May, approximately the same time as guys like Tyler Palko, Matt Gutierrez, and Chris Olsen. He's right in their league.

His coach actually thinks Guillon is probably further along at this point in his career than Ken Dorsey, who wasn't heavily recruited until the fall of his senior year. In fact, Dorsey wasn't offered by Miami until the fall, when Guillon was offered in the spring.

I really like our chances with this one. I think the Dorsey connection will really help, especially considering the success he's enjoyed here, as well as the relationship that Guillon and Coach Dan Werner have. Chances are, the Tennessees, Southern Cals, and UCLAs will offer early in the fall, but I still like our chances with this one and if I had to name a quarterback that I think we have the best chance of landing, I'll go with Marc Guillon.
