Now, it looks like he will a lot more of the school.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Gesicki, who is rated as a tight end but is being recruited by Rutgers as a receiver, said he is looking at making an official visit to campus before he makes his decision, which right now is slated for late October or early November.
"Rutgers was great," he said of the visit. "Me and my two best friends went up, and they enjoyed it. I saw what I have been seeing (and the) coaches are great. It is definitely a top school and also a school I will probably take an official visit on."
Rutgers rarely does in-season official visits, but in the case of Gesicki, it may take that road. He also has Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida State, Duke, Yale and Miami on his list. Gesicki had made several visits to Rutgers, but he wanted to see a practice.
He was originally slated to visit next week, but it was on the same day the Scarlet Knights' had a walk-through scheduled before leaving for the opener at Fresno State, so he rescheduled so he could spend time watching a high-tempo practice and also speak with the coaches.
"It was great," he said of practice. "I've seen it before but watching (receivers) coach (Matt) Simon and (offensive coordinator) coach (Ron) Prince run that offense and seeing the players in my position, I know I can compete and do my job.
"I really enjoyed the visit. It feels like home."
As a junior, Gesicki made 50 catches for 954 yards and nine touchdowns.
