Quick hitter on '16 'Canes pledge

Miami has a commitment from Cocoa (Fla.) safety Chauncey Gardner in the 2016 class.

Miami has joined the real early commitment party, as they recently added the a pledge from Cocoa (Fla.) high school in defensive back Chauncey Gardner, according to his head coach Johnny Wilkinson.

"Yeah, Chauncey has committed to Miami," Wilkinson said. "They got themselves a good one. He always liked them, they offered and he didn't wait. He jumped on it."

Why wait if your Gardner, especially when that's the team you always wanted to play for. Speaking of which it appears he will be a safety for the Hurricanes.

"Chauncey is just a ball-hawk," Wilkinson said. "He has instincts and a great feel for the game and the position. He's a terrific athlete."

Gardner is 5-foot-11, 185-pounds.
