Williams still taking things slow

Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker Dwight Williams has been pretty low key with the recruiting process and still isn't close to cutting down his sizeable list.

Dwight Williams and his Serra squad will head to San Diego this weekend to play their season opener against Mesa (Ariz.) Desert Ridge. It will be the Cavs first of two road trips in a row to San Diego as they'll play Oceanside (Calif.) in the 2013 Honor Bowl September 6.

"I was looking at visiting Michigan that weekend but I won't get back in time," Williams said. "Right now, the only visit I have set up is with Florida for (Nov. 30) when they play Florida State.

"At this point, I really don't know who else I'll be visiting, I haven't really thought that much about it. I'm still looking at all the schools on my list equally right now. I don't plan to narrow my list down to five or seven, I'm just going to set up visits later in the year and focus on those schools but I'm not going to publicly keep cutting my schools down or anything and make a big deal out of this."

The schools still on Williams' list include Arizona State, California, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA and Washington, in addition to the Gators and Wolverines.

"Right now, I'm just trying to focus on our season," Williams said. "We have some tough games to start out the year so I'm just trying to concentrate on my team and be a leader. I'll get around to trips later and I do want to take them during the season so I can commit at the Army All-American Bowl."
