Q&A with David Gilbert

Read on to see what senior defensive end David Gilbert is saying a few days before the team's showdown against 9th-ranked Florida.

On this week in practice:
We have to come in, and try being better than we were yesterday.

On UF being a bigger game:
Every game is exciting. You only have 14 opportunities, and this is just the next one.

On his fumble recovery:
I was coming off a block, saw the ball on the floor, and had to get there first. It was a great hit by Kacy, and I had to get on the ball. It was more exciting. I was thinking about a touchdown too but it didn't happen so I gotta move on.

On scoring there:
We don't wanna fall on it anymore. Hurricanes score so that's a key point.

On Florida's talent level:
I don't really have an opinion about Florida's players.

On trash talking:
We wanna be professional. We will represent the Hurricane family in first class. I don't think it's gonna be an issue. I don't think there will be. We're a class act, and hopefully those guys are too.

On getting five sacks in week one:
It just shows the work were putting in on defense is paying off. Guys are trusting the scheme. It's encouraging to see that it's working and that the sack totals are up.

On his foot:
It's better than I expected. It's moving forward.

On making a good choice to return to football:
Yeah, I made this decision mostly for my family and to give myself an opportunity. So far it's paying off and I'm trying to have fun with it.
