Canes get new RB commitment

The University of Miami has gotten off to a fast start this recruiting season. They continued their recruiting success on Sunday by adding another big commitment. Read on for more.

Mark Walton is one of the top running backs in Dade County right now. And he's just a sophomore at Booker T. Washington High.

On Sunday Walton made a commitment to the Hurricanes.

At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, Walton is having a tremendous sophomore season so far. He has carried the ball 25 times for 266 yards and seven touchdowns. His 10.6 average ranks only second among big school runners in Miami to Florida-bound Dalvin Cook.

Walton grew up a Hurricanes fan.

"I grew up a Hurricane fan, a huge one to be honest. My whole family loves Miami, I grew up watching them, and I love UM. I love their history, how they rotate their running backs," Walton told Scout.

The talented 2016 prospect, who was offered by the Hurricanes back in the spring, also holds offers from schools like Florida State and West Virginia. He's expected to be one of the state's most heavily recruited players over the next couple years.
