Golden updates injuries & more

Head coach Al Golden provided injury updates on several players, including quarterback Stephen Morris, today. Read on for that and more.

On today's practice:
It was good. We got a lot done. There is a lot to absorb on defense, getting used to their tempo and cutting and misdirection. You just have to settle in, learn from the film, and move forward.

On preparing for Ga Tech's offense:
It's a grind. They're cutting you, then coming hard, then ear blocking. It's an excellent scheme. No one does it like Paul (Williams). His quarterback gives them a whole other dimension.

On this week's scout team QB:
Corn Elder and Josh Johnson. Corn is running the ones. He's a point guard, and gets it. I asked him in front of the team today and he understands it.

On Stephen Morris improving with his injury from last week:
No comparison. Throwing last week and then watching him throwing today, no comparison. There have been no setbacks.

On being disciplined on defense:
We have enough experience. We have to be careful with younger guys in this situation. One lack of discipline play and you're paying for it. We have to trust our keys.

On the defensive touchdown:
They were excited, equally disappointed that we didn't score on the other one. We had four opportunities to score and got one. We're making progress. It was a nice play by Shayon and then Jimmy.

On Shayon's first career sack:
Last year he was a junior that hadn't really played because of so many injuries. He's like a second year senior in terms of playing. He works hard, leads by example.

On Jared Wheeler being starter quality:
No question. He can play any of the three inside spots. No question.

On being 4-0:
I know the staff hasn't discussed it. That part is over. Now we're into the ACC Tournament. We're 0-0. They've already played three and are 2-1. We have our hands full. No one is talking about what's happened.

On injuries:
I'm worried about Eduardo. I don't know where he's at. Grace will be OK. Feliciano is fine. Dortch has a foot deal that we're being protective of. I think he'll be OK in the long run. Grace was controlled today. We need him on special teams. He's been getting better. Shane is back full today. Hopefully we'll get Danny and Rashawn back.

On Tyriq McCord:
I'm excited about his attitude. He understands his role. We're trying to teach all these guys. Someone came to be and asked why someone is on varsity and someone else on scout team. Tyriq is playing at a high level. He is grading well and will continue getting more roles with the effort he's giving. He can bend, has long arms, I see him having a big role still.

On Dallas Crawford:
Dallas is a competitor. Two of those runs, we didn't block it, and he found a way. He went down on a kickoff and made a play inside the 20. He's a football player, getting better every week.

On Gus Edwards being denied on the goal line:
It was both. We didn't get the push we needed up front. We have to work on that. He has to be his own blocker. You know the numbers down there. He's too big not to get in. He has to run below his pads. He's competed every week, and keeps getting better.
