Crenshaw (1-3) @ St. John Bosco (4-0) 7PM Live Stream: Prepzone
St. John Bosco is ranked No. 8 nationally in the FOX Top 50, and the Braves had last week off to prepare for Crenshaw and then the Trinity League schedule to follow. Bosco is led by a host of big-time college prospects including 5-Star junior quarterback Josh Rosen who should be back from his injury against Chandler on September 14th. Bosco also features a pair of the nation's best defensive ends in the country in Malik Dorton and Jacob Tuioti-Mariner. In reality, the Braves have over a dozen players who will sign scholarships, here is a list of the seniors, and you can use the drop down menu to check the other classes: St. John Bosco Prospects
Quarterback Ajene Harris leads Crenshaw. He is headed to San Diego State next year. He is undersized at 5'10, but he has a quick release and a strong accurate arm.
Prediction: At first glance this looks like a mismatch. But Crenshaw has played an incredibly tough schedule including Long Beach Poly, Edison, and Oaks Christian. The Cougars will keep it closer than one might expect when looking at their records (and Bosco's lofty ranking), but in the end St. John Bosco gets the win by a comfortable double digits.
Chaminade (3-1) @ Notre Dame (4-1) 7PM Live Stream: Prepzone
The best matchup of the night features two teams side by side in the Southern Section Rankings; Chaminade at No. 10 and Notre Dame at No. 11. Chaminade has a balanced attack led by Miami commitment Brad Kaaya at quarterback who was recently offered by UCLA and running back Donovan Lee who has offers from Colorado and Colorado State among others. The Buffs are also represented by Rick Gamboa at linebacker who spearheads Chaminade's defense along with UCLA commit Jojo McIntosh at defensive back. Do everything athlete Koa Farmer (Cal) plays on both sides of the ball for Notre Dame.
Prediction: Chaminade is a two point conversion away from being
undefeated. Notre Dame had Serra beaten, right up until the moment they didn't.
These are two teams who feel like they should be undefeated, and both teams are
playing well. Chaminade has the star power and has found its running game. Notre
Dame plays better on defense. I'll go with Notre Dame at home, but this one is a
San Clemente (2-3) @ Edison (2-2) 7PM Live Stream: Prepzone
San Clemente has fallen on hard time this year after being a power in the
South Coast just two seasons ago. Edison has gotten handled by two of the
Trinity League's powers the last two weeks, first Servite and then Mater Dei.
Edison is led on both lines of scrimmage by BYU commitment Tico Fuga.
Prediction: Edison has had trouble on offense the last two weeks, but some of that can be attributed to the competition. The Charges get back on the winning track against San Clemente sending the Tritons to their fourth straight defeat.
Valencia (3-1) @ Loyola (2-3) 7p 7PM Live Stream: Prepzone
Valencia's senior quarterback Jake Wallace has been impressive early this season with nearly 1200 yards in just four games while throwing for 12 touchdowns against only three interceptions. Loyola sits at 2-3 but they have played very well on defense including holding St. John Bosco to 24 points two weeks ago.
Prediction: This should be another tight game. Loyola has the home field advantage and the defense. Valencia has been moving the ball up and down the field this year. Loyola represents an upgrade in competition after Valencia beat Santa Monica and Righetti the last two weeks. This could come down to the wire, but Loyola's defense holds Valencia down just enough to pull out the win.
