4-star Miami WR target set to decide

The Hurricanes have been recruiting Dwyer wide receiver Johnnie Dixon for a few years now. The four-star standout is expected to make his final decision this coming Sunday. Where do the Canes stand?

WR Johnnie Dixon: 5-11/195, 4.5/40

2013 stats: Dixon has helped lead his Dwyer High team into the state semi-finals this week. He has 21 catches for 448 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.

As a prospect: Dixon is a dynamite wide receiver prospect. He has enough short-area quickness and the overall toughness to play in the slot and create a lot of matchup problems with opposing safeties and linebackers. And he's big and fast enough to be a game-changer on the outside. He's averaged over 20 yards per reception throughout his prep career and always seems to find a way to come up with a big play whenever his team needs it most. He's one of those players who is at his best when the game matters most.

Recruiting: Dixon attended multiple Junior Days, a spring practice, and a summer camp at Miami before his junior season even started. He returned for a Junior Day, a spring practice, a summer camp, and a game in 2013. He attended a summer camp and took official visits to Ohio State and Alabama. It appears as though those are his three finalists. Miami coach Al Golden visited his home this past Sunday. Ohio State's coaches aren't able to come by this week because of their game this weekend. Alabama's coaches have not been by this week yet. He also took official visits to N.C. State and Arkansas, and plans to take his final visit to Miami this weekend. He will then announce his final decision on Sunday, and plans to enroll early.

Bottom Line: He's been to Miami a whole lot more than the other two schools. Alabama not sending a coach by yet this week might indicate that they believe it's over. His visit to Miami this weekend will be a short one because of his game Friday night and his announcement (at a local sports bar in Jupiter) on Sunday. All signs are pointing to Miami here, and it'd be a huge addition to Miami's recruiting class.
