UM Recruiting Scoop: 12/12

Read on for all the latest recruiting news and information surrounding the University of Miami, with complete analysis from CanesTime's Mike Bakas.

* Brandon Powell signed a Financial Aid Agreement with UM yesterday. That brings the total number to eight. All eight are eligible to enroll for the spring semester. That may hurt UM a bit in terms of hanging onto him because Tennessee is the primary competition, and their coaches wont be able to spend as much time with him in January. The Vols are a legitimate threat here, and this is something we will continue to monitor.

* Eric Lauderdale is a Juco WR who landed an offer from the Canes back in the spring. After he committed to Tennessee, the Canes still recruited him It appears as though they've cooled on him a bit lately. He has cut his list down to Florida, Arizona State, and Oregon.

* With the increased interest in New Jersey's David Njoku, the Canes obviously want to add another big receiver to this class. 6-5 Darrell Langham and 6-4 Tyre Brady are current commitments, and the Canes are trying to add one more. If Ohio State, who made an in-home visit Wednesday, offers then it could get tougher. For now, however, Temple seems like Miami's primary competition so the chances look good for the Canes. He visits here this weekend, and there's a good chance he'll leave as a commitment.

* Juco DT Edmond Boateng is set to announce his decision this coming Sunday. Miami offered him back in the spring but he hasn't taken a visit here yet. Arizona State is considered the team to beat, and they're expected to get his commitment this weekend. Claude Pelon, who visits here this weekend, seems like the most likely Juco DT prospect to come here. Michael Wyche is already committed and the Canes are trying to add a second.
