3 suspended for bowl game will return

Three players were suspended for the bowl game, and didn't even make the trip with the rest of the team. All three players are due back. Read on for the whole story.

Junior wide receiver Rashawn Scott, freshman quarterback Kevin Olsen, and freshman defensive back Ray Lewis did not travel with the team to the Russell Athletic Bowl. All three were serving suspensions.

"All of them were suspended for the bowl game due to conduct that was detrimental," Al Golden said Monday.

Golden seemed most disappointed with the actions of his rising senior receiver.

"Rashawn, that's a different situation than Ray (or Kevin)," he said. "Rashawn is getting into his senior year. He has to be a guy to settle in, has to be accountable for his teammates."

Golden has high expectations for both of the returning freshmen.

"In terms of Ray and Kevin, we really like both of those young men. Both will move forward. They're excited to come back and we're excited to have them back."

Scott played a role down the stretch during the 2012 season, and will look to jump back into the wide receiver rotation this spring. Olsen, who is expected to compete with Ryan Williams for the starting quarterback job in 2014, and Lewis are coming off redshirt seasons.
