Walford returning for senior season

University of Miami junior tight end Clive Walford announced Saturday that he will be returning for his senior season in 2014. Read on to see what he's saying.

Clive Walford will be a Hurricane again in 2014, he announced through the school on Saturday.

"I think that the program is heading back to national recognition the way that Coach Golden and his staff are constructing and leading this team," Walford said. "Waiting for the NFL (for another year) will only make me a more complete player overall and increase my knowledge of the game."

Walford, who was lightly recruited out of Glades Central High School due to lack of experience, has been Miami's starting tight end in each of the last two seasons. He has 1,077 career yards and seven touchdowns.

The 2014 John Mackey Award candidate believes the team is headed in the right direction under coach Al Golden.

"(The Russell Athletic Bowl) game and winning nine games were very important for our team," Walford said. "It's another step in the right direction."

Walford's announcement comes just a day after Denzel Perryman said he will also return for his senior season.
