UM Recruiting Scoop: 1/13

Read on for all the absolute latest recruiting news and information surrounding the University of Miami, with complete analysis from CanesTime's Mike Bakas.

* Trevor Darling and Joseph Yearby officially enrolled at UM today for the spring semester. That means the Canes now have Darling, Yearby, K.C. McDermott, Juwon Young, Trent Harris, and Braxton Berrios in for the spring semester. Today was the first day of classes for the spring semester, and also the day all the returning players officially reported back. The only mid-year player they're still waiting on is Juco DT Calvin Huertelou.

* As the search for another RB in the 2014 class continues, keep an eye on Daniel Gresham from Texas. At 5-foot-10 and 240 pounds, Gresham committed to Texas very early in the process but then backed off that pledge and later committed to Louisville, the city he grew up in. He said yesterday that Louisville's coaches told him they would not honor his commitment. Since Texas already has 3 other running backs committed, it's unclear whether they'll add him to their commitment list. Gresham listed Florida State, Miami, and Ole Miss as his other top choices back over the summer. Since FSU recently landed Dalvin Cook, it's unlikely they'd pursue him hard. Miami is back on him, and there's a good chance he'll take a visit here later this month. The Canes originally offered him back in the spring.

* David Njoku is a 6-foot-4 WR prospect from New Jersey who took an official visit here last month. A one-time Temple commitment, Njoku told Scout yesterday that he now has January visits set to Penn State and Ohio State. While the Canes seemed to be in good shape after last month's visit, it's still unclear how hard the Canes are still recruiting him. Getting Derrick Griffin (6-5 WR from the 2013 class) into school this week would likely lessen their interest in Njoku but he still remains an option. Things might get tougher now, however, with those two Big 10 schools involved.
