Landry likes Miami, Mizzou

Ascension Catholic (Donaldsonville, LA) three-star defensive end Delmond Landry is looking for his first offer, and it could come from an out-of-state BCS program...

Delmond Landry rarely came off the field during his junior season at Ascension Catholic.

"It was a wonderful year," he said. "One of the best I've had during my career. I had 77 tackles and 21 sacks, with my best two games coming in the last two."

Ascension Catholic defeated Ascension Episcopal (Youngsville, LA) in the first round of the Division IV bracket before succumbing to St. Edmund (Eunice, LA).

"I gave it my all in every snap of those games," said Landry, who acknowledged the difficulty of going full throttle on every down when you're playing offense, defense and special teams for a small school.

Landry says he's gotten a slew of junior day invites.

"I've been invited to Miami, Indiana and Cincinnati," he informed. "I like Miami and Missouri a lot. I like their whole (defensive) schemes."

LSU, Texas A&M, and South Carolina are additional schools he hopes will offer.

"Miami and Missouri are recruiting me the hardest," said Landry, who reports his current height and weight as 6-foot-4, 250 pounds.

He played defensive end, nose tackle and tight end as a junior for Ascension Catholic.

He's averaging 15 points per game on the basketball court with 14 rebounds.

"I had 18 points and 26 rebounds in our last game against East Iberville," he added.

The young man has his head on straight.

"I just want people to know that I'm a good, humble guy," Landry said. "I work really hard every day in the weight room, thinking about my future."
