"I went down to Alabama and sat down with Coach Nick Saban," he said. "I told him I wanted to be a part of 'Roll Tide,' and that I was ready to commit. I like playing with the best players - to make me a better player.
"(Saban) was so happy when I committed. He stood up, shook my hand and said I made a great decision; I was happy myself. I realized that was the best place things would work out for me at."
Charlot said he plans to put in the work to be the best player possible.
"I feel like I can do that and possibly become even a better player than them," he said when asked about the possibility of playing together with Louisiana product Cameron Sims in the future.
"I want to work my way to the top."
Charlot got some advice from another Louisiana product in Tuscaloosa.
"I sat down with Landon Collins and he said people are going to criticize you, but you have to look past that and make the right decisions for yourself," the junior said.
Charlot will now attempt to help the Tide recruit his teammate, four-star 2016 WR Mykel Jones, who will attend Bama's next junior day.
More to come on Jones in a separate feature later today.
