Hoops: Canes drop season opener

The Hurricanes opened up its Men's Basketball season with a loss to St. Francis by the score of 66-62.

The Hurricanes started the 2013/2014 season with some excitement, as they went into overtime with St. Francis in the season opener.

Unfortunately, the Canes were on the losing end by the score of 66-62.

In a game that saw Miami shoot just 31-percent from the line and 0-for-15 from three-point range, Donnavan Kirk led all Miami players with 16 points.

After tying the game with just over two seconds left, Miami was unable to pull ahead in the extra session. It marked a tough opening night performance for the defending ACC champions.

Kirk was Miami's top performer, turning in his first career double-double (10 boards in addition to his 16 points).

Kirk, Manu Lecomte, Garrius Adams, Rion Brown, and sophomore Tonye Jekiri were the starters for the Hurricanes.

Miami will play host to Georgia Southern on Monday.
