Hoops: Canes hit the road and get the W

The Hurricanes hit the road for the first time this season after starting with three straight home games. They're coming back with a 16-point win.

Miami looked sharp in the road opener Monday night, as they went into College of Charleston and came out winners by the score of 70-54.

The Canes pulled out to a 15-point halftime lead and then put it in cruise control throughout the second half to leave with the easy victory.

James Kelly stepped up for the Hurricanes and actually led the team in scoring with 18 points. That comes after three games where Kelly wasn't a major factor for Miami's offensive attack.

Rion Brown added 15 points for the Canes, while Donavvan Kirk pitched in nine points and grabbed nine rebounds on the night. It was a solid team effort, offensively, for the Canes.

Willis Hall (12 points and seven rebounds) was the top performer for College of Charleston, which had just two players in double-digit scoring.

Kirk, Rion Brown, Manu Lacomte, Garrius Adams, and Davon Reed were the starters for the Hurricanes in this game.

Miami (3-1) will return home this Thursday to play host to the UCF Knights.
