Hoops: UCF holds off Hurricanes

After three straight wins, the Hurricanes took on UCF tonight and fell to the Knights by the score of 63-58.

The Hurricanes started slow in this one and trailed by seven points to start the second half. Despite making a good comeback effort late, it wasn't enough. The Knights upset the Canes on their own court.

Miami connected on just 39-percent of its shots on the night and finished the game just 5-of-22 from three-point range.

Garrius Adams turned in his best performance of the young season by scoring 20 points and adding eight rebounds. Davon Reed also played his best basketball of the season and pitched in 17 points of his own.

That wasn't enough, however, as UCF stayed ahead of the Canes all night. Tristan Spurlock had a double-double (10/10) for the Knights and Calvin Newell led all of their scorers with 19 points.

Adams, Reed, Donnavan Kirk, Manu Lacomte, and Rion Brown were the five starters for the Hurricanes in this game.

The loss dropped the Canes to 3-2 on the season. They will travel West for the Wooden Legacy Tournament next Thursday, when they're scheduled to take on George Washington in the opener.
